At least 88 people are now known to have been sickened in a Salmonella outbreak linked to a North Carolina Holiday Inn. This latest illness count, reported by WRAL Tuesday, marks an increase of two cases from the 86 reported by the Cumberland County Health Department Friday. The outbreak has been traced to the Holiday Inn Bordeaux in Fayetteville, N.C., which operates two restaurants and a banquet kitchen. Both restaurants – the All American Sports Bar and Grill and the Café Bordeaux – appear to be linked to the outbreak. Five of the victims were hospitalized as a result of their illnesses. Anyone who ate at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux after May 1 of this year and then experienced symptoms of Salmonella infection is encouraged to call the Cumberland County Health Department at 910-433-3824. Symptoms of Salmonella infection include stomach cramps, diarrhea and fever.
