The Louisiana firm that recalled 20,166 pounds of roast beef products earlier this week for potential Listeria contamination has greatly expanded the initial recall, which now includes 468,000 pounds of a variety of deli meats. Manda Packing Company of Baker, Louisiana, is now including ham, turkey breast, tasso pork, ham shanks, hog head cheese, corned beef and pastrami, along with more types of roast beef, in the list of products it’s removing from the market for potential contamination. The recall was initiated after the Tennessee Department of Health detected Listeria monocytogenes in a sample of the company’s roast beef. At that point, roast beef made the day the sample was collected was flagged for recall. Now, samples of product from other production dates have also tested positive for Listeria, prompting the firm to recall 447,834 more pounds of product.
