It does not meet all that often, but USDA plans on keeping the National Advisory Committee on Meat & Poultry Inspection. USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service DSIS) Tuesday published notice in the Federal Register, saying the Meat and Poultry Inspection group will continue for two more years. Established in 1971, the purpose of the committee is to provide advice to the Secretary of Agriculture concerning state and federal programs involving meat, poultry and processed eggs over inspection, food safety and other matters. Its advice falls under the Federal Meat Inspection Act (FMIA) and the Poultry Products Inspection Act (PPIA). According to FSIS, the committee usually mets twice a year. It last meeting was last March 21. Members serve two- year terms. The current membership includes: Patricia K.
