Allergen Alert: Mislabeled Crab Soup

Blount Fine Foods of Fall River, MA is recalling certain crab soup, distributed to some Whole Foods retail stores on the East Coast, because a labeling mistake omits the milk, wheat and crab ingredients.

The back label on some of the company’s Rip Roarin’ Crab Soup incorrectly identifies the product as Manhattan Clam Chowder, so the ingredient statement does not list the allergens.

No adverse reactions have been reported.

The recall is of a single date code of Blount Fine Foods Rip Roarin’ Crab Soup in 16 ounce retail cup pack size with the product code 71116, the lot number 1202117D and the use- or freeze-by date of 2/10/2012.

No other products or date codes are involved.

The recalled soup can be returned for a full refund. For more information contact Blount Fine Foods at 1-800-274-2526, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
