Spinach Recalled for Possible E. coli

Published:

Wegmans stores are recalling two sizes of pre-packaged spinach and mixed greens produced by State Garden due to possible contamination of E. coli O157:H7. This is a voluntary recall by Wegmans stores out of an abundance of caution, and no recall has been issued by State Garden, a lawyer representing State Garden told Food Safety News.

The two products are:  – Wegmans Food You Feel Good About Organic Spinach & Spring Mix, 11oz – UPC: 77890-16411 – ONLY product sold between 10/14/12 and 11/1/12.  – Wegmans Food You Feel Good About Organic Spinach & Spring Mix, 5oz – UPC: 77890-16437 – ONLY product sold between 10/14/12 and 11/1/12.  Consumers who purchased these items are asked to discard them or visit their Wegmans’ service desk for a full refund.  Food Safety News has not learned of any illnesses tied to this recall at this time.
