Increasing oversight by regulatory agencies, third-party payers, and the public has intensified interest in the quality of health care services. Effective training that ensures consistent and predictable employee performance is fundamental to the delivery of high-quality laboratory services and optimal patient outcomes. Regulatory and accreditation agencies require that laboratories have policies, processes, and procedures for training. This presentation provides information that will assist in the development of training and competence assessment programs that fulfill requirements and support the laboratory’s role in the provision of high-quality health care services.
