Canada Beef Recall Includes More Than 135 Products

More than 135 products are part of the recall in Canada of frozen ground beef processed by the Saskatchewan-based New Food Classics, a plant that has filed for bankruptcy and ceased operations.

The beef may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 and has been linked to one illness, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

The first recall notice was issued February 18 and news reports in Canada say the company locked out its workers three days later.

The brand names included in the recall include Best Value, PC, PC Blue Menu, Calgary Stampede, Country Morning, Country Morning Gold, Exclusive Selections, Grillhouse, Heritage Angus Beef, Irresistibles, Keg, Licks, Maple Lodge Farms, Simply Food, Webers, Western Family and others.

The CFIA provided details of the brand names and codes in a list published Tuesday. The affected products listed can be identified by the Establishment 761 number that appears on the packages, cartons or cases.
