Dumplings Recalled for Misbranding

M&P Food Production of Brooklyn, NY, is recalling 63 pounds of Veal Russian Brand dumplings because the dumplings may contain pork, which is not declared on the label, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Monday.

The problem was discovered after an FSIS-collected sample tested positive for pork and beef.

There are no reports of illnesses or adverse reactions.

The recall involves 16-oz. packages of “RUSSIAN BRAND DUMPLINGS-VEAL.” Each bag or box bears the establishment number “EST. 18832” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were packaged on Oct. 27, 2011 and have a Use By/Sell By date of April 27, 2012. They were distributed to retail stores in Pennsylvania.
