Glass Fragments Prompt Frozen Vegetable Recall

Packages of frozen vegetables sold at Walmart nationwide and Kroger in the Southeast were recalled over the weekend because they may contain glass fragments.

Tennessee-based Pictsweet Co. initiated the recall of approximately 24,000 pounds of frozen peas and mixed vegetables on Friday.  The company is warning consumers to not consume recalled products due to the potential for injury, though no injuries have been reported to date.

Pictsweet is including the following products in the recall:

-Kroger 12-ounce Green Peas (UPC 11110 89736). Production Codes of 1440BU, 1440BV, 1440BW, and 1600BD.

-Kroger 12-ounce Peas and Carrots (UPC 11110 89741). Production Codes of 1960BD and 1960BE.

-Great Value 12-ounce Steamable Sweet Peas (UPC 78742 08369) with “best by” dates of July 20, 2012; July 21, 2012.

-Great Value 12-ounce Steamable Mixed Vegetables (UPC 78742 08026) with “best by” date of July 15, 2012.

Consumers can the recalled products to Kroger or Walmart for a full refund. Pictsweet has set up a  toll-free line to answer consumer questions: 1-800-367-7412, extension 417.
