Cheesecake Recall Underway In Canada

A public warning for people with allergies has been issued in Canada about Yiangello brand Cookies & Cream Cheesecakes.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Dawn Food Products Montreal Ltd. teamed up in the warning, which involves undeclared egg proteins.  Egg not declared on the label is contained in these two products:

-1.2 kg Cookies & Cream Cheesecake with UPC 6 26217 00431 2

Item# C0431

-500 g Half Moon Cookies & Cream Cheesecake with UPC  6 26217 00440 4 Item# H0440

The recall covers all best before dates for these products.

CFIA said the cheesecakes were distributed in the province of Quebec.

There has been one reported illness associated with the consumption of these products, according to CFIA.

Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to egg proteins.

The manufacturer, Dawn Food Products Montreal Ltd., is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
