There was a lot more variety in the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) “Enforcement Report” for last week. The recap of FDA’s recalls and field corrections contained reports on recalls that were due to the possible contamination of products like Cayenne pepper and chili oil with Salmonella and other products containing undeclared ingredients ranging from milk to walnuts.
Products made with peanuts, pistachios, and dried milk are FDA’s three big recall areas this year. It is possible that most of that recall business is now in FDA’s rearview mirror. Once recalls are initiated, it usually takes several weeks or months before FDA gets this kind of detail.
