France has become the fifth country to report Listeria in enoki mushrooms from South Korea.

It was already known that 36 people fell sick and four died in the United States from November 2016 to December 2019. Six illnesses were recorded in Canada between 2017 and 2019 and five in Australia between October 2017 and March 2020. Indonesian authorities ordered a recall of affected mushrooms from Green Co. Ltd in May but did not report any patients.

Nestlé S.A. plans to start cracking down on slavery and other human rights and labor abuses identified during a recent year-long investigation. The Swiss transnational food and beverage company announced the plan on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015. Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce and the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization met yesterday to collaborate on improving Cambodia’s food safety system.

The purpose of the meeting was to bolster government agencies’ capacity to “develop, implement, and monitor national food control strategies that reflect the multi-disciplinary nature of food control,” according to Xinhua media.

In an opening statement, Chan Nora, leader of the Ministry of Commerce in Cambodia indicated that improving food safety was a key strategy for the government to promote economic sustainability.
