Another smoked salmon product was recalled for Listeria risk last week, adding to the growing number of such recalls that have occurred in North America this winter. Cetntral-Epicure Ltd. of Toronto, Ontario in Canada issued a voluntary recall of its Atlantic Smoked Salmon Friday citing potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Product subject to this recall is sold in 100 g packages marked with UPC 0 61279 21200 6. The expiration date is BEST BEFORE 12MR26. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says there have been no illnesses connected to consumption of the recalled product to date. In the United States, six smoked salmon products were recalled for potential Listeria contamination between November 2012 and January of this year. Now the problem has cropped up in Canada, where this is the first recall of smoked salmon for Listeria risk this year, according to CFIA’s recall page. A cold smoked salmon product was recalled due to a risk of Listeria in February 2012 in British Columbia.
