Public health officials in Muskegon County, MI, have launched a foodborne illness investigation after at least six calls about illnesses came in from local customers of a Muskegon sports bar. An April 9 news report stated that recent patrons of Bonicki’s Sports Bistro were being asked to fill out an online survey about what time they visited the establishment and the symptoms they later experienced. Jill Montgomery Keast, a health education supervisor at Public Health – Muskegon County, said that the department received at least six calls from local customers who fell ill between April 3-6, 2014. She said that officials were trying to determine the type of the illness and the source. This is the department’s second foodborne illness investigation in the past six months. In November, there was a Salmonella outbreak at a Roosevelt Park pub and grill.
