CFIA, Lucerne Foods Recall Roast Beef Sandwiches Over Salmonella Concerns

Lucerne Foods is recalling various sandwich products from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination. This recall was triggered by the company.  The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. If other high-risk products are recalled, CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings.  Consumers should not consume the recalled products described below.  The following products have been sold in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and may have been sold in other Canadian provinces.  Roast Beef Submarine, BB MR 11, BB MR 12, BB MR 13, BB MR 14, BB MR 17, 6 89048 03110 3  Meat Lover’s Sandwich, BB MR 11, BB MR 12, BB MR 13, BB MR 16, BB MR 17, 6 89048 03117 9  Roast Beef Submarine, 4051, 0 79944 00991 2  Roast Beef & Cheddar Sandwich, 4051, 0 79944 00987 5  Pictures of Product Labels Here.  Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.  There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
