Eco-Cuisine of Boulder, Colorado is expanding its recall to include all lots of certain food mixes, including Basic Brownie Mix, Betty Brownie Mix with Vanilla, Ground Beef Style Quick Mix, Sausage Style Quick Mix, Chocolate Cookie Mix, Lemon Muffin Mix, and and English Scone Mix because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

People with compromised immune systems are most at risk. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The baking mix products were distributed nationwide through direct sales and food service distribution centers and include the following products:

No illnesses have been reported to date, according to the company’s release distributed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday.

The recall was as the result of notification by CHS Foods that ingredients used in the products above were being recalled for Salmonella. The company has ceased the production and distribution of the product as FDA and the company continue their investigation as to what caused the problem.

Consumers who have purchased the above listed products are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
