The Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) Annual Education Conference is a forum for delegates from the United States and Canada for discussion of cutting-edge food, drug and medical product safety and security defense initiatives.
Titled “Leading the Way to Building Global Integrated Food, Drug and Medical Device Safety Systems,” the conference will feature keynote addresses by federal and international food safety leaders, including the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Center for Disease Control.
The Food Track conference agenda topics are wide ranging from “Implementing an Integrated Food Safety System” to “Using Alliances to Lead and Implement Food Safety Improvements.” Import/Export Issues, Panel Discussions on “Preventative Controls”, “Third Party Certification” and “Cottage Foods” are only a few of the topics just touching the surface of the timely presentations on the schedule.
Drug and medical product safety is and continues to be of global significance. The importance spans the world as it has a substantial impact on both public health and economic activity. Health Canada will discuss their “Risk-Based Drug and Medical Device GMP Review Program,” while the FDA will review a “Risk Based Approach to Quality”. FDA will issue updates on the “Unique Device Identification Plan” and Canada will deliver information on the “Premarket Clearance Requirements for Medical Devices.”
The conference will take place from June 2 (pre-conference workshop) through June 6.
