The Rhode Island Department of Health has posted another update in its ongoing investigation of the Salmonella outbreak linked to zeppole and other pastry items prepared and sold last month by DeFusco’s bakery in Johnston.
The new numbers released Tuesday:
— 73 cases total (72 in Rhode Island, 1 in Massachusetts)
— 29 hospitalizations (27 discharged, 2 current)
— 44 lab-confirmed Salmonella infections
— 2 Salmonella-associated deaths
