Canada Issues Warning About Uncle Ben’s

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to milk proteins not to consume Uncle Ben’s Bistro Express 1.5 kg 6 pack described below.

The affected 6 packs do not declare milk in the ingredient listings on the outer box. The ingredient listings on the individual pouches within the affected 6 pack boxes are correctly labeled with milk ingredients declared where present.

The affected product, Uncle Ben’s Bistro Express 6 pack is sold in 1.5 kg boxes bearing UPC 0 58496 25406 and contains 6 x 250 g pouches of rice (2 each of 3 flavors – Fine Herb, Roasted Chicken flavor and Wholegrain Brown). Milk ingredients are present in the Long Grain & Wild – Fine Herbs and the Long Grain & Wild – Roasted Chicken flavor rice products contained in the affected 6 pack boxes.

This product has been distributed in Canada.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk.

The manufacturer, Mars Canada Inc. Bolton, ON is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
