The Reser’s Fine Foods recall of refrigerated ready-to-eat products announced Oct. 22 was expanded on Saturday, Oct. 26, to include all products produced between Sept. 5 and Oct. 9, 2013, due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The packages of such foods as pasta, cole slaw, and potato salad subject to recall are marked with a Use-by-Date or Best By Date and followed by a plant identifier code of 20. The company announced that these products are being recalled in conjunction with other foods regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Products regulated by FSIS bear the establishment number “EST. 13520” or “P-13520” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The recalled products were sold nationwide and in Canada, to both retail and food service establishments. The problem was found through testing conducted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. There have been no reports of illness due to the consumption of these products. An updated list of recalled products is available on the FSIS website.
