Dried fish recalled because of improper eviceration

Prime Food Processing LLC is recalling dried croaker fish because the product was not adequately eviscerated, as required by the Food and Drug Administration.

Fish that are not properly eviscerated may retain internal organs that can harbor harmful bacteria or toxins, posing a potential health risk to consumers.

The recalled fish is sold in plastic packages with green trim on the top and bottom and the item number #AF1410. There is concern that consumers may still have the product in their homes because of its long shelf life. It has an expiration date of Dec. 28, 2027.

The recalled product was distributed to Asian grocery stores in the following states: AL, AZ, CA, FL, GA, HI, MA, MD, MO, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA. WI.

The issue was identified during routine testing conducted by the New York Department of Agriculture. A subsequent investigation determined that the problem originated from an imported product manufactured in Vietnam. At this time, no illnesses or adverse reactions associated with the recalled product have been reported.
