According to Health Canada, while small amounts of caffeine are not a concern for most people, consuming too much caffeine can cause insomnia, headaches, irritability and nervousness. Some people who are sensitive to caffeine can experience these effects at very low levels of consumption. For women who may become pregnant or are pregnant, the possible health effects of consuming too much caffeine include an increased risk of miscarriage and a risk of low birth weight. Children are also considered to be at greater risk of experiencing adverse effects from caffeine.
