Update: Retailer List Expands in 9-Million-Pound Beef Recall

Published:

(Feb. 15 update: The retailer list has been updated to include retailers in Alabama and Mississippi, with additional locations in Florida.)  The U.S. Department of Agriculture is piecing together a list of retailers to which 8.7 million pounds of recalled meat had been sent over the course of 2013.  While, up until Wednesday, the recall list has consisted of neighborhood markets, one national retailer has been added: Pastoral Plate, a meat retailer whose San Francisco Bay pick-up locations received some of the recalled product.  The first update of Friday evening added a number of California locations and one in Washington. A second update the same evening correctly identified Washington and Oregon retailers that had been mistakenly listed under California.  Saturday’s update expanded the list of Florida retailers and added Alabama and Mississippi locations. There is still no indication of where the product was sold in Illinois and Texas, as indicated in the initial recall notice.  Here’s the latest complete list of retailers available:  Alabama:

Rancho Feeding Corp., the beef processor behind the recall, has halted production at their facilities while USDA officials begin an investigation into the production of the recalled products. For more information about the recall, see here.
