A single Whole Foods Market store in Seattle is recalling prepackaged fresh kale due to possible contamination of Listeria monocytogenes. The store is the Roosevelt Square location at 1026 NE 64th St. The product was sold in rectangular plastic calmshells labeled Whole Foods Market Kales Mixed OG (Organic), PLU 0258622, with packed-on dates of 9/15/13 through 9/20/13. The problem was detected during routine testing by the Washington State Department of Agriculture. No illnesses have been reported in connection to this recall. However, due to the time involved in tracing a foodborne illness back to a specific food source, it is impossible to say whether or not the product has sickened anyone. Signage is posted in the Roosevelt Square store to notify customers of this advisory. Customers who have purchased this product should discard it or and may return it to the store for a refund.
