Publix Recalls Cake Products for Listeria Risk

Publix Super Markets is recalling 45 varieties of cakes that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.  The cakes were distributed at Publix stores in Florida between November 11 and November 15, 2012. Counties where the affected products were sold include Brevard, Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, Flagler, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia.  The company was notified of the problem by its supplier, Maplehurst, according to the recall notice.  Publix has removed the recalled cakes from store shelves, but customers who may have purchased the cakes and have them at home should not eat them and can return them for a full refund, advises the company.  Products subject to this voluntary recall include the following. No illnesses have been reported in connection with consumption of this product, says the company in its recall notice.
