Three Food Scientists Awarded Grants to Attend Center for Produce Safety Symposium

Food testing laboratory ABC Research Corporation has awarded travel grants to three food scientists to attend the third annual Center for Produce Safety Produce Research Symposium on July 27 at the University of California, Davis.

The winners, Kanika Bhargava of Wayne State University, David Ingram of the USDA Agricultural Research Service, and Hamed Zahedi of the University of Guelph, were chosen from a pool of applicants conducting research intended to improve produce safety.

“These three winners showed the strongest promise with their produce safety research,” said ABC Marketing Manager Chuck Ellis.

The winners’ research could not be disclosed due to confidentiality. They will each receive $500 toward travel and registration expenses for the symposium.

ABC Research Corporation features one of the largest food testing laboratories in the U.S.

The Center for Produce Safety provides the produce industry and government with a searchable database of global produce safety research.
