Popkoff Frozen Food of San Francisco, doing business as Blossom Foods, is recalling approximately 500 pounds of frozen, pureed chicken products because of an undeclared allergen. The products contain the allergen, soy, which is not declared on the label, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said Friday.
The problem was discovered by FSIS during a routine label review and may have resulted from a change in a product flavoring, which contained soy as an ingredient, which was inadvertently left off label.
There are no reports of adverse reactions.
The products were produced on various dates between May and Nov. 29, 2011. They were sold to institutions in the San Francisco and Oakland areas and directly to consumers via the Internet.
The recalled products:
– 5-oz. single-serving cups of “Blosson Foods – Dark and White Meat Chicken with Vegetables.”
– 5-pound bags of “Blossom Foods – Dark and White Meat Chicken with Vegetables.”
The products bear the establishment number “P-4966” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
