Allergy Alert: Ponchatrain Sauce Mix

A Texas company is recalling the Ponchatrain Sauce Mix it sold in its local retail store because the product may contain undeclared milk and soy.

Emporium Packaging & Spice Co. of Temple, TX said an oversight led to the sauce mix being distributed in packaging that did not list milk and soy as ingredients.

There have been no illnesses reported. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk or soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume them.

The recalled product is packaged in a clear 0.17 lb. plastic bag with a white and red paper label that states “Emporium Packaging & Spice Co. Ponchatrain Sauce Mix.” The sauce mix was distributed in Temple, Texas through the firm’s retail store.

Consumers may return the recalled sauce mix to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 254-774-9098, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST.
