A Canadian-based cheese company and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) are warning the public not to consume Primeridge brand Pure Cheese Curds because the product may contain Listeria monocytogenes.
The Primeridge Pure cheese company said the cheese curds were sold at the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market and Leslieville Cheese Market in Flesherton, Ont., from July 9, 2011.
There have been no reported illnesses.
The cheese curds were sold in various weights and sizes in packages labeled “Packed on 08.07.11”.

The symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes can include high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Pregnant women and the elderly are at the most risk.
