The Pictsweet Co. is recalling its frozen Steam’ables asparagus spears because one of its suppliers “inadvertently” shipped it product suspected of being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Pictsweet reports distributing the frozen asparagus to 34 states and Puerto Rico, but the company’s recall notice on the FDA’s website does not include any information about what retailers may have received the product. Similarly, the recall notice does not name the supplier of the frozen asparagus that is packaged under the Pictsweet brand.

UPDATED April 14, 2016: The Food and Drug Administration is working with Oregon Potato Co. on the recall of bulk shipments of onions that may be contaminated with Listeria. The Pasco, WA, company sells only bulk quantities of its products, therefore the FDA has not posted a recall notice. “Oregon Potato notified its customers directly of the recall because they only sell products in bulk, and customers would not be able to recognize OPC product at the retail level,” an FDA spokeswoman said Thursday

UPDATE April 12: Several other retail grocery chains have recalled certain Pictsweet brand frozen vegetables because of possible Listeria contamination from onions. Those retailers include Giant Food, Wegmans, Martin’s, Tops, Stop & Shop and Food Lion. Pictsweet Co. officials have not responded to requests for comment and have not posted any recall information on their website as of 3:45 p.m. At least two frozen vegetable blends produced by the Pictsweet Co. are under recall because chopped onions in the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
