Chicken pate has been implicated as the possible source of an outbreak of foodborne illness that sickened 80 guests following a fundraising dinner at the luxury Lowry Hotel near Manchester, England.

According to a story in the Daily Mail online edition, lab test have confirmed that a number of the guests who reported symptoms of dizziness, fever and vomiting were infected by Campylobacter.

Dr. Rosemary McCann, a consultant with the UK’s  Health Protection Authority, told the newspaper that the investigation is continuing, including analysis of a food-history questionnaire returned by the guests.
