Scotland has updated guidance for the public health management of E. coli O157 and other Shiga toxin-producing (STEC) infections.
The Scottish Health Protection Network (SHPN) document replaces the 2013 guidance.

An increase in cases of this particular strain type
The number of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) cases in Scotland decreased slightly in 2017 but remains high compared to other UK countries, according to Health Protection Scotland.

The events that led to the death of a Scottish child, who was among 20 people infected with E. coli O157 (VTEC), began with the July 29 “precautionary recall” of
