State and federal officials are investigating a new multistate outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 infections. The outbreak is associated with Fresh Express brand chopped salad kits. People in Canada are also sick.
Even though state officials have found E. coli in romaine lettuce in an unopened package of Ready Pac salad, the federal CDC says their investigation has not determined the source of an eight-state outbreak.
The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention year’s declared this year’s largest E. coli O157: H7 outbreak over on June 28.
And that’s true for the disease phase of the outbreak.
