Dutch controls reveal impact of hot weather on standards

Food safety standards are often not met at hospitality venues, according to findings from a summer control campaign in the Netherlands.

The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) said violations of food safety regulations were found at nearly two-thirds of inspected businesses.

Enforcement action was taken against 96 of the 154 companies inspected. This involved 88 official warnings and eight reports resulting in a fine. A follow-up inspection will take place within three months at non-compliant outlets.
