Countries in the Western Pacific have taken part in an annual event to test their readiness for cross-border food safety emergencies.
Exercise Crystal simulated a scenario in which suspected food contamination caused illnesses among residents, to test relevant government departments' response plans, prevention and control measures and co-ordination on foodborne diseases, as well as to share information swiftly with the World Health Organization (WHO).
