EU proposes changes to rules about meat storage conditions

The European Commission has opened a comment period on a change to regulations that would give companies more flexibility related to frozen meat.

The proposals would increase the options for food businesses around storage conditions before freezing meat. They are based on a European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) opinion that includes using different time and temperature combinations or microbiological evidence to satisfy authorities.
