Authorities have uncovered a network operating across Europe that is accused of being involved in the slaughter of horses that were unfit for human consumption.
The group is suspected of using falsified documents and manipulated microchips to conceal the animals’ true identities.
Nearly 200 officers and representatives of different authorities took part in the operation in Belgium, France, Ireland, and the Netherlands, with the support of Europol.
