EU tightens tahini and halva Salmonella checks, adjusts rates for other foods

Stricter controls on tahini and halva from Syria for Salmonella have been put in place by the European Commission.

The legislation sets the rate of official controls and special conditions for food and feed of non-animal origin imported into Europe. Action guards against the risk of contamination by mycotoxins, pesticide residues, microbiological contamination, cereulide toxin, Sudan dyes and plant toxins.
