China records spike in mushroom poisoning cases with more than 2,100 patients reported

China has reported a significant rise in mushroom poisonings and the number of people sick in them in 2025 compared to the year before.

Poisoning incidents and patients reached a six-year high but the number of fatalities was the lowest over that period. The lower number of deaths can be attributed to greater public awareness, faster medical intervention, and more effective treatment, said experts.
