Australian agency denies horse meat claims

Authorities in an Australian state have rejected claims made in a TV program that horse meat has been detected in food.

The New South Wales (NSW) Food Authority said it has not found horse meat in beef, lamb or any food for human consumption.

Comments were made by NSW Greens politician Abigail Boyd in a Four Corners program broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), based on documents showing food safety breaches. She said horse meat may have been put into ground (minced) beef and lamb.
