Advance Food International Inc., of Maspeth, NY, is recalling its Kasundi Peeled Mango Pickle in Oil because of elevated levels of lead (0.0649 mg/kg).
The recall was initiated on April 16 and is ongoing, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recalled products were distributed to retail locations in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Maryland.

About lead poisoning
Short-term exposure to low levels of lead may not cause immediate symptoms, but increased blood lead levels may be the only sign of exposure. Prolonged exposure, especially in children, can lead to permanent damage to the central nervous system, resulting in learning disorders, developmental defects, and other long-term health issues.
