The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert to notify the public of a recall conducted by Maxi Canada Inc. of Québec, Canada, involving 103,752 pounds of chicken products that may be contaminated with metal pieces. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) notified FSIS of the recall, which includes products exported to the United States. The recalled chicken nugget products was produced in July 2015, and was imported to the United States between July 30 and March 5 this year. 38-ounce (2.975-lb) boxes of Yummy brand fully cooked “CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS | 100% All Natural* | Nugget-Shaped Chicken Breast Patty Fritters with rib meat PRODUCT OF CANADA” with a BEST IF USED BY date of 07/17/17.
The products bear establishment number “Canada Est. 348” and UPC number 064563225782. This item was shipped to retail locations in the United States nationwide and can be found at retailers such as Kroger, Wal-Mart and Safeway. The problem was discovered when a consumer from the United States complained to Maxi Canada Inc. about a foreign object in the product. Maxi Canada Inc. initiated a recall on March 5 and CFIA subsequently notified FSIS. As of the posting of the recall notice, there had been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness potentially associated with the recalled product should contact a health care provider. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
