Avocados Recalled for Salmonella Risk

Published:

A Houston, Texas company issued a voluntary recall of 80 cases of whole avocados after the product tested positive for Salmonella.  Latin Specialties, Inc. recalled the avocados, which it received from grower Unity Groves Corp. of Florida, on October 30. The recall is ongoing, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s enforcement report.  The avocados were distributed in Texas in brown cardboard boxes of 32 avocados each bearing the label “Unity Groves Pride of the Redlands Florida Avocados 25399 SW 157 Ave Homestead, FL 33031,” printed in green. The product is not marked with a lot code.  Latin Specialties received the avocados from Unity Groves on October 10.
