Webinar Thursday on New Food Safety Law

A webinar is being offered at 1 p.m. EST tomorrow (Thursday, Jan. 13) on the new Food Safety Modernization Act and how companies can meet the new requirements for food safety plans, certification standards and mandatory recalls.

Offered by the law firm Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, the webinar will be presented by Edgar Asebey-Birkholm, who specializes in technical FDA matters; Edward Steiner, director of  Trade and Legislative Affairs for the firm; and James O’Reilly, chairman of the FDA committee of the American Bar Association.

Among the topics that will be addressed are: hazard analysis and evaluation of potential contamination; written safety plans; verification of controls; vertification of imports; FDA’s ability to suspend or revoke registration; safety standards for certain food categories; and FDA penalties, mandatory recalls and  imposition of criminal and civil penalties.
