The deadline for submitting comments on the FDA’s proposed revocation of the use of Citrus Red No. 2 as a color additive in food is approaching. The Trump Administration says the move is a big step toward Making America Healthy Again.

Citrus Red No. 2 has been authorized since 1959 for coloring the skins of mature oranges. The revocation of use be the Food and Drug Administration will have virtually no impact because industry abandoned the use of the substance several years ago.

However, officials with the Department of Health and Human Services and the Food and Drug Administration say the action is a step toward meeting the intent of the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA).
