California Leafy Greens growers spend less than $60 per acre on food safety efforts

A new study shows that food safety costs paid by large-scale leafy greens growers in California have increased in the past 20 years.

The study by researchers at the University of California showed that costs increased from an average of $24.04 per acre to $54.63 per acre for growers who are members of the Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement (LGMA).
