Hotel fined for hygiene failures and Salmonella outbreak

A hotel in Australia has been fined for food hygiene offenses relating to a foodborne outbreak that sickened 76 people.

The Terrigal Plaza Hotel in New South Wales was ordered to pay more than $53,000 (U.S. $37,000) in fines and costs with a guilty conviction recorded for four offenses under the NSW Food Act of 2003 in Gosford Local Court earlier this week.
