Food safety scientist scoops World Food Prize

A food safety scientist has been named the 2026 World Food Prize Laureate for his efforts to build international consensus on food standards and facilitate the safe flow of trade.

Huub Lelieveld, from the Netherlands, was recognized for leading a movement across more than 100 countries to deliver the scientific evidence for modern regulations, legislation and international standards that safeguard the world’s food supply. Lelieveld will receive a $500,000 cash prize.
