Kevin Stitt went so far as to say the landmark case should be dismissed, and Tyson Foods Inc. said it wouldn’t renew contracts with poultry growers in the Illinois River watershed unless the federal lawsuit against Tyson and 10 other poultry companies ended on terms acceptable to the defendants.

Twenty years later, the State of Oklahoma is coming away with the win, but without as much as it sought over the years to clean up waters polluted by poultry waste.
