Vegetables topped the list for causing the most illnesses in 2024

The FDA has just released a report on outbreak investigations for 2024 and it shows vegetables were the most frequent cause of foodborne illnesses.

The annual report from the Food and Drug Administration details some of the activities of the agency’s Office of Coordinated Outbreak Response, Evaluation, & Emergency Preparedness (CORE+EP). The office was established in 2011 under the Obama Administration and was part of the FDA’s largest reorganization in 2024 under the Biden Administration.
